Presence is one of those qualities that's hard to define, yet you know it when you see it. People who have a powerful presence exude confidence and competence. They are leaders, movers and shakers. I accidently came upon a definition of "presence" in a book about, of all things, the archetypes of ancient indigenous peoples. The author stated that the "power of presence" was one of the essential qualities for a shaman, or leader, in these ancient tribes. The definition these ancient people applied to this power is as relevant today as it was thousands of years ago.
