Economy is not a zero sum game. While the bubble was increasing we all became wealthier. As the bubble burst it took a great part of money with it and the wealth just evaporated. As a result most of the people became poorer and poorer. Even though a considerable amount of money has been wiped out of the market and the sum of people's wealth has decreased considerably there are ways for getting the edge of the current recession.
