You may wonder why it's important to drag up the history and offences of someone you've known for a long time. Are criminal background checks really that so very important? Simple, not everyone are who they seem to be. Wouldn't you want to know if your neighbour is a recent parolee who committed hundreds of crimes? Chances are you won't. What if this individual has been convicted of assault multiple times? Or even worse - is a known and registered sex offender?
