The FTC has delayed its enforcement of the Red Flags FACTA Rule to May 1st, 2009. The original mandatory compliance date was November 1st, 2008 but after some industries expressed confusion on whether they were required to comply and how to go about becoming compliant, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) decided to delay its enforcement for 6 months. Although the FTC enforcement has been delayed, there are still considerable risks associated with companies who aren't in compliance with the new rules.
